Janjang Saribu

by - August 21, 2019

Ngarai Sianok found in Bukittinggi is not only identical to the steep walled valley. In the canyon there are also several rivers flowing through the valley. There are also green and yellow rice fields framed by the canyon cliffs. There are also houses, although not many.

Other tourist areas in the Sianok canyon area are Jajang Saribu or 1,000 Stairs. If calculated correctly, the number of steps is not up to 1000. But close to that number.

Janjang Saribu (1.000) is a series of hundreds of steps that have walls or cliffs of Sianok canyon. Janjang Saribu and Janjang Koto Gadang aka the Great Wall of the mini China are different. You are both in the Sianok canyon but the location is different. Both attractions are approximately 3 km away.

Janjang 1,000 is an unspoiled tourist attraction. Meander along the crevices of the cliff. At this tourist spot is a resting place (coupling) WC, fishing pond, camping location and a large parking lot.

At the end of the 1,000 level, you can witness the behavior of wild animals such as monkeys that roam while playing and jumping from branch to branch and birds chirping.

The peak of Janjang Saribu is a village called Bukik Apik or Bukit Apit. Formerly Janjang Saribu is a ladder used by residents of the Bukit Apik community to take water to the river located at the bottom of the canyon. This row of stairs is on a steep canyon wall that is even at a 90 degree angle.

Even though it is near the villages, the view of Sianok canyon in this simple park is beautifully set in Mount Singgalang. Visitors who come generally want to feel the adventure and the sensation of going up and down the stairs on the steep ridge of Saribu Janjang. Some came from the canyon under the stairs, others came from the park in Bukik Apik.

Not difficult to reach this region. From Panorama Hole Japang Park, just go straight for about 500 m, you will find the intersection of four later. Take the path to the left that goes downwards. Later you will find the entrance to Japang Hole and the long gate of Koto Gadang. Just keep going until you find a bridge beside which there is a cafe or restaurant.

If you take an angkot that goes from Pasar Bawah to the canyon direction, it is the same as an angkot that goes to Janjang Koto Gadang. Stop and get off at the first bridge at the bottom of the canyon, about 150 m after the Joto Kadang Gadang gate and Lobang Jepang gate. (*)
