When going to Bukittinggi, it is incomplete if you don't visit this tourist attraction. Ngarai Sianok name.

Sianok Canyon is a steep valley in the middle of Bukittinggi City, West Sumatra Province. This long and winding valley is located in the south of the Koto Gadang Gorge to Sianok Six Suku Canyon, and stops in Palupuh.

The steep valley of the canyon has a depth of 100 meters and has a length of approximately 15 km with a width of 200 meters. Sianok Canyon is a separator of Sumatra Island into 2 parts that are elongated or called Semangko Fault. Along the fault the walls are very steep and perpendicular to this form a green valley which is the result of synclinal (downward movement of the earth's skin).

In 2007 due to the Sumatra earthquake some of the walls collapsed, but the Sianok Canyon still fascinated the tourists who came. Nonetheless, Ngarai Sianok won The Best Tourism Object in the 2007 Padang Tourism Award Award which took place in Padang, West Sumatra.

Not only the view of the steep cliffs, Batang Sianok (the stem in the Minangkabau language means river) which flows in the Sianok Canyon also adds to the beauty of tourist sites in West Sumatra. This pretty clear water empties into the Indian Ocean. Sometimes the Sianok River flow is often used for water sports activities such as rafting, kayaking and canoeing.

In addition, along the banks of the river can still be found rafflesia flowers that thrive and various kinds of medicinal plants. If you want to see wildlife, you can enter the forest in the Sianok valley. Some of the animals that you can meet are gibbons, long-tailed monkeys, deer, leopards, wild pigs, and maybe Asian tapirs.

If you are from Padang, to get to Bukittinggi you can use land transportation by public transportation. Travel time is approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival in Bukittinggi, the journey continues with public transportation which is often found towards the Sianok Canyon object. For your convenience, it is recommended that you use a private car or travel agent.
